How to Write a SEO Friendly Blog Post

  1. Identify Your Search Terms:

What are your 5 – 10 keywords that you would like to be ranked highly for? Take you time with this and do your research. I recommend using Google’s free keyword tool to help you identify the terms you would like to focus on.

  2. Find a Topic That is Useful to Your Clientele:

Many people want to turn their company’s blog into a running diary and do not realize that most visitors do not care what is new with you personally. They are after information, and if they cannot find that information they will leave your site almost instantly. Use your blog posts instead, as a compliment to your service. If you operate a dog grooming business try writing a post about various, do it yourself, tips for grooming your dog at home. This might seem like you are giving away your secrets but in reality you are building trust. When that reader eventually tires of grooming their dog on their own, they will turn to you.

  3. Integrate Your Keywords Into Your Posts:

This is a very important step because although we hope visitors are reading the posts, we know that search engine crawlers are reading the posts, and this is just as important, if not more important. You want to create a web of internal links that will allow the crawlers to easily navigate and identify the key terms within your website.

  4. Interlink Your Keywords:

Identify those keywords within your posts and link them to corresponding pages within your website.  This is what we call the root system of your website. The more posts you make the stronger the root system becomes.

The benefit of using this search engine optimization method is that you are creating content driven SEO. This content will remain forever and the search engines will like you for it. They want your website to be active and if you are able to provide them content they will reward you for it. Just remember to stay on topic and interlink as much as possible to create the tight web of links they are looking for.
