No, we are not talking about nursery rhymes today but search engine spiders. That web crawler software that searches all websites over the entire world-wide-web to determine the relevancy of a website’s content and where to rank it in a search engine. These crawlers are the backbone of search engine optimization.

SEO rankings. Surely you’ve heard us mention this a time or two? Your ranking is where your website places in any given search engine. Every business vies for the top spot. The proper use of keywords on your website, how many visitors and link backs to your website you have, will make those spiders really happy and put you higher on the list.

Spiders (web crawlers) are constantly scanning the pages of your website for fresh content and proper use of keywords. The results of which are broken down and sent back to a database and stored. Then the content is analyzed with an SEO program and algorithms that determine where you are placed in the rankings.

While scanning, if the spiders encounter links to another website, that information is stored and eventually the spiders will check out these links. If you have many links, from other websites, back to your website, this will raise your ranking since it means many people are linking to your site and visiting your site. Spiders like links backs.

There are many SEO services available that businesses should utilize. Let the experts worry about making those spiders happy with what is written on your website or blog.
