There are many reasons why blogging is a critical component to your small business marketing strategy.  Near the top of the list is the fact that consistent, compelling blogging can improve your site’s search results.  This isn’t news to readers of tis blog, and people could be forgiven to thinK this is the only reason to blog.  But it isn’t.

In reality, there are many other powerful reasons why blogging is important.  For example, blogging is the perfect vehicle for building your brand.  Think about it: no market research, no consulting engagements, and no excessive expenses are needed — just consistent blogging that appeals to target demographics and conveys authority on a given topic.

Blogging also can attract new visitors and customers, regardless of the search engine optimization component.  By publishing blogs, sharing them with social networks, and encouraging comments, you’re able to reach a far larger audience – all with a relatively minimal effort.

Lastly, writing consistently also forces you to “think outside the box,” especially when writer‘s blocks.  And in the process, you may think of a new strategy, product, or approach you never would have considered.  Think of it as real-time brainstorming in publishable form.

Ultimately, we don’t want to be the ones to tell you that there’s to life than SEO.  But when it comes to blogging, well, sometimes…there’s certainly more to it than SEO.
